How does JetCup's deposit system work?

When buying a drink or food, the POS automatically adds a deposit. Each item (cup, container, or food packaging) has a built-in RFID chip that links it to the payment. At a return station, the item is scanned automatically and the deposit is refunded to the customer's card or mobile wallet in under 3 seconds. No apps, QR codes, or accounts needed.

What return rate does JetCup achieve?

When deposits are linked to cards and returns are frictionless, return rates reach 87%. This is significantly higher than traditional token or receipt-based deposit systems.

Why is the EU banning single-use items?

The EU Single-Use Plastics Directive has already banned many disposable items. Sweden enacted its own ban in 2024. The EU Packaging Regulation, taking effect in 2027, goes further — requiring reuse systems at events and food service venues.

What technology does JetCup use?

JetCup uses RAIN UHF RFID chips embedded in each item, readable from 3+ meters without line of sight. The system integrates with Worldline and mobile wallets for bank-grade payments, and works with POS systems like Trivec. JetCup also handles in-house industrial washing — venues don't need their own equipment.
